You might already know that I am an avid supporter of the Children’s Cancer Institute, the only independent medical research institute in Australia wholly dedicated to childhood cancer. What you may not know is that this year more than 950 families in Australia will hear the words ‘your child has cancer.’ You may not know that cancer still kills more kids in Australia than any other disease. Of the kids who do survive, 70% have life-long side effects from their treatment, some as serious as infertility, heart problems and even secondary cancers. I don’t think this is good enough, and I’m sure you don’t think so either.
Having gone through my own personal Cancer journey, and knowing how tough that can be for an adult, I can't comprehend the pain parents must feel watching their children fight this debilitating disease. That’s why this year I have agreed to step out of my comfort zone on the 7th September 2018 and take on a dare challenge at Children’s Cancer Institute’s CEO Dare to Cure. I’ll be taking on the dare to shave my head as part of Team Lulu.
Kids fighting cancer don’t need miracles, they need medical research. With your help, we will find a cure for childhood cancer and end their suffering. It’s not if. It’s when.
